## Keynote Indications
Dr. Finsen, of Copenhagen, revived and confirmed much of the ancient light-therapy. O. V. 
Thayer published, in 1893, a series of cases in which he had used concentrated rays of sunlight (solar cautery) 
including cases of skin cancer, rodent ulcer, parasitic diseases, moles, small wens, and birthmarks. 
H. T. Webster gave details ofacase of epi thelioma in which the growth was removed by solar cautery and a 
scarcely perceptible scar left. Sunlight has cured skin cancers 
' and lupus in the hands of Finsen. 
Potentized sunlight has been used for sun dermatitis, heat stroke, cancer and radiation. Chronic sun 
headaches ( Verat., Glon., Nat- c, Nat-m.). Violent headache from vertex down to forehead with hot sensation 
in face. Keynote photophobia. Very sensitive to sunshine. 
Sunburns easily. Never well since severe sunburn. Sunlight damage of the eyes, from over-exposure, snow-
blindness, sunblindness. Cataracts. Radiation exposure with nausea, vomiting, hair loss, emac iation (Cadm-
s., X-ray.). 
Mental excitement and anxiousness, at first with trembling of the heart, finally remaining in the stomach pit. 
Faintness, prostration and general stiffening up of the whole system, the body strength seems more equalized. 
Spasm coming with sunrise and ceasing with sunset. Some spasms appearing at sunset.

## Modalities (Aggravations / Ameliorations)
Ameliorated by cloudy weather. Better hot bath, when chilled to bone. Better short naps, sleep. 
Better bending double, sitting down. Eyes better hot flannel. Throat better cold sweet drinks. Headaches better 
pressure, cold application, orange juice. Worse sunlight (Nat-m.), from sunrise to sunset. Spasms coming with 
sunrise and ceasing with sunset. Worse from standing. Eyes are worse from wind.

### Vertigo
- Vertigo on waking at 6 am, better lying, worse closing eyes.
- Dizziness with nausea, worse standing, 
sitting.

- COMMENTS - In 1880, Swan published a pathogenesis which contained informa tion obtained from four 
provers and from Reichenbach’s experiences from hypersensi tives.
- The common effect s of strong sunlight, 
such as sneezing, freckling and sunstroke, may be added to the list.
- Dr.
- Thayer, in 1893 in southern California, wrote a paper on sunlight for a homeopathic journal.
- He described 
how to “Concentrate the sun rays to a diseased part until slightly burned or charred and then wait until it heals 
and then repeat the procedure.” 
 
 
He claimed to have cured all kinds of cancers, removed birthmarks, tattoos, warts, sebaceous cysts, ulcers, 
varicose veins and all other types of benign growths.
- “Un like other caustics, it can be applied upon the most 
delicate of tissues and it causes only slight irritation and most heal with only the slightest scar.”  
Dr.
- Thayer coined the term “solar cauterization.” A magnifying glass was used and the sunbeam was focused 
right on the skin cancer, until a burning sensation was felt, then stopped.
- This would be repeated once or twice 
a day.
- After a week or ten days the melanoma would fall off and it would heal without a scar.
- Thayer had a whole practice based on the ma gnifying glass and focusing the sunlight in 1893 and very few 
homeopaths used his methods.

- Foubister revived interest in Sol in its potentized form as an antidote for radiation poisoning from radiation 
therapy with cancer patients.

### Mouth

### Throat

### Chest
- Sensation as if a weight on chest.
- Chest very tight with wheezing.

- Kidneys - Increased urine though drinking less, night as well as day.
