Eyes, serous membranes of chest, muscles and left side are also affected. Distinct eye symptoms of a paralytic type. Great soreness of walls of chest. Pressure on chest as though lungs were forced back to spine. Pleurodynia. Lying on right side causes pain in chest. Motion causes pain under sternum. Motion of arms causes soreness of walls of chest. Circumscribed spots in chest left after inflammations. Hoarseness. The throat is so dry and sensitive it hurts the patient to talk. Cough often ends in sneezing. Lying down causes tickling in larynx. Great accumulation of clear albu minous mucus, which is difficult to expel. Whooping cough in fat, chubby children, clear mucus like white of egg, difficult to raise, cough worse towards evening. ## Modalities (Aggravations / Ameliorations) Better walking in open air, sweat, bending head backwards, walking in open air. Rest helps dry cough. Worse from inhaling air, open air, cold, wind, walking in open air. Worse in warm air, warm room. Worse going up stairs, stooping, bending forward. Worse by touch and pressure, rubbing. Worse rest, morning and night. Worse looking intently at an object. ## Symptoms by System ### Mind - Anxiety with hasty respiration. - Fear of suffocation. - Inclined to quarrel. - Readily takes offense. - Suddenly remembers unimportant regions which he saw long ago. - Greatly diminished urine, loaded with shreds and mucus. - Urine, foamy, acrid with mucus shreds. - Dullness with pressure and weakness of eyes. - Pain in temples. - Bursting pain in forehead into eyes, better cool open air. - Eyeballs feel distended or like balls of ice. - Sensation of trembling withou t visible trembling. - Flickering, must wipe eyes frequently. - Objects look shaded. - Double vision, better only by bending head backward. - Ptosis. - Blepharitis, lids dry and crusty (Graph.). ### Ears - Aching in the ear when chewing. ### Mouth - Dry scraping in mouth, worse talking. - Taste, metallic like urine. - Nose - Dry. - Coryza, much watery mucus and sneezing. - Sneezes, so often and so violently that the head grows dizzy and heavy. - Nostrils feel peppery. ### Throat - Catarrhal inflammation of throat and fauces with scraping hoarseness. - Catarrh of larynx. - Hawks viscid mucus in detached small clots. - Burning and rawness. - Sensation as if membrane had been abraded. - Dry scraping, worse talking. - Loss of voice. - Voice unsteady, vocal cords partially par alyzed. - Hurts to talk. - COMMENTS - The prover took from 40 to 6 drops of the tincture. - Extreme tenderness. - Worse bending head forward and worse from stooping. - Generally left-sided. - Disordered digestive organs. - Gnawing hunger and empty feeling. - Irritability and catarrh of the urinary organs. - Frequent urging, scalding in urethra before or after urination. - Urine is loaded with mucus threads. - Seneg. - has been used as an emetic. - Pressure, dullness, heaviness in the head. - Painful sensitiveness of hearing. - Eye symp toms as an accompaniment of head symptoms. - “Violent rush of blood to head when stooping, especially to eyeballs, where a painful pressure is experienced.” Pains, inflammation both of the exterior and interior of the eye and lids, and much disorder of visio n. - The eye troubles are worse when looking intently at an object and better bending head backwards. - The symptom in which it was first noticed was “When walking towards the setting sun he seemed to see another smaller sun hover below the other, assuming a s omewhat oval shape when looking down, disappearing on bending head backwards and on closing the eyes.” Guernsey outlined its action, “Where there is a great burning in the chest, either before or after coughing, profuse secretion of mucus. - Dryness of inner parts which are usually moist, dry skin. - General disorders of the windpipe, left side of chest particularly, right eye, lower eyelids.” Nash, who had only obtained success with low potencies of Seneg., cured many cases of “cough with great accumulation of mucus, which seems to fill the chest with much rattling, wheezing and difficult breathing.” A very stout elderly woman of tubercular family history had pneumonia of both bases, especially right. - She had a very violent paroxysmal cough with ropy, difficult expectoration tinged with blood. - Seneg. - 30c quickly relieved a very dangerous condition when other remedies had failed. - Clinton Enos related a case of a very fat girl, age 10, with cold, damp feet and hands and sweating about the head, had spells of sneezing for two years, even since whooping cough. - Several sneezing spells a day lasting about half an hour. - Sharp pains in chest and temples during the attacks. - In nose a large quantity of mucus with stuffed-up feeling. - One dose of Seneg. - 200c removed the whole trouble in a week. ### Chest - Chest feels oppressed on ascending. - Pressure on chest as though lungs were forced back to spine. - Pain in spots, as if bruised shifting pains on stooping. - As of a crushing weight or weakness starts in chest. - Sore from coughing, pressure, sneezing or moving arms. - Burning in chest before or after coughing. - Dry scraping in chest worse talking. - Thorax feels too narrow. - Exudation in pleura. - Hydrothorax. - Circumscribed spots in chest left after inflammations. - Constitutions - Suited to plethoric, phlegmatic persons, persons tending to obesity, fat persons of lax tissue, fat, chubby children and old persons. - Suited to females of slender and tall, but having retained a good deal of sprightliness and moral power. - Bronchial catarrh with sore chest walls, much mucus, sensation of oppression and weight of chest. - Bursting pain in back on coughing. - Hacking cough. - Cough often ends in a sneeze. - Rattling in chest (Ant- t.). - Albuminous or blood -streaked sputum. - Exudations in pleura. - Pleuropneumonia. - Hydrothorax (Merc -s.) Difficult raising of tough, profuse mucus in the aged. - Asthenic bronchitis of old people with chronic interstitial nephritis or chronic emphysema. - Old asthmatics with congestive attacks. ### Stomach & Abdomen - Loathing and nausea with inclination to vomit. - Boring and digging pains in abdomen. - Flatulent disorders with a sen sation of a general bearing down towards hypogastrium. ### Neck & Back - Bursting, distending pain in kidney region. - Causations - Ill effects of poisonous bites, sprains. ### Generalities - Eyes, as if they were pressed out, as if eyeballs were being expanded, as if soap in eyes. - As if red pepper throughout nostrils and air passages . - Dyspnea as from stagnation in lungs. - As if lungs pushed back to spine. - As if chest would burst. - As if chest too narrow. - Wrist as if sprained. - Joints as if lame.
