## Keynote Indications
Ost. is sometimes regarded as a variety of the common Hornbeam naturalized in America, 
though native to southern Europe. The chief difference between them is that Ost. vulg. has pendulous catkins, 
and Ost. virg., upright. The wood is exceedingly hard and heavy. 
The preparations of which the provings by Burt and others were made were from the wood. Marked action on 
the liver with the usual dull headache and pain in back and shoulders, cutting, sinking pains in abdomen. 
Nervous, languid, weak, uneasy. Very nervous with dull headache. 
Increased appetite, hunger wakes the patient at 4 a.m. Sinking at the epigastrium. Sickening pains. Black 
stools. Bilious conditions and intermittent fever. Anemia from malaria.

## Modalities (Aggravations / Ameliorations)
Worse moving, walking, stooping. Worse 6 a.m., 4 a.m., 3 p.m.

sharp pain in right lower molars.

### Stomach & Abdomen
- Sour stomach.
- Nausea and distress after riding in cold air.
- Burning distress in epigastrium.
- Hard 
sickening pains in epigastric and umbilical region, awaking him at night.
- Sinking in epiga strium.
- Frequent 
nausea with dull, frontal headache.
- Sickening pains.
- Dull pains in right lobe of liver with sour belchings.
- Retraction of umbilicus.
- Rumbling, flatus, pain 
waking him in night.
- Appetite greatly increased, woke with hunger at 4 a.m.

### Extremities
- Aching, dull pains in arms and legs.

- Back so painful, can hardly turn in bed, cannot sit up (better from Macro., Bry., Nux -v).
