It affects\neach and every part and cell of the body.  Once Mercury has settled in\nthe body it is extremely difficult, if not impossible to eradicate its ill\neffects.  Like Arsenic, it too produces deep and permanent ill effects,\nhowever, Arsenic does not get carried into the next generation.  Its ill\neffects remain confined to th e person poisoned, though they last\nthroughout his life.  Arsenic embedded in the body gets buried with\nthe person.  Mercury however, is ex tremely dangerous because its ill\neffects pass on from generation to generation.\n\nSyphilis also behaves the same way.  That is why Mercury happens to\nbe a top class treatment for syphilis .  Syphilinum too, given in very\nhigh potency, is very useful in the treatment of syphilis; it is prepared\nfrom the syphilis lesions. However in case it does not benefit, it will at\nleast enhance the action of other remedies, especially the Mercury\ncompounds.  The above basic feature of Mercury must be well\nremembered that its poisonous effects last throughout one\u2019s life as\nwell as getting passed onto the next ge neration.  In an ironic sense,\nMercury is a dangerous poison with ev er-lasting effects.  In fact, it\ntops the list of dangerous poisons.  It affects the bones as well as the\nnerve cells.  It percolates through the blood, skin, heart, inner linings\nand nerve fibres and then settles in the bone and brain tissue.  In olden\ndays, the doctors used to treat syphilis with Mercury.  It offered\ntemporary relief but resulted in long -lasting deleterious effects on the\nbody.  The syphilis simply got suppressed and transmitted through\nreproduction to future generations.  Besides this, past physicians used\nMercury fearlessly for other co nditions as well.  Excessive,\nunnecessary use of mercury produces syphilis like symptoms.\nMercury kills the nerve cells and causes decay of the nasal bones and\nfingers, like leprosy.  The homoeopathic use of Mercury, on the other\nhand, has the capability to cure these symptoms.\n\nExcessive salivation, profuse sw eating, sore throat and pungent\nsmell are the common symptoms of Mercury,  well known to\ndoctors.  A Mercury patient alwa ys smells putrid, unbearable to\nothers. It is difficult to explain the nature of this smell.  One has to\npersonally experience it.   Proper use of Mercury will surface the\nillness to the skin. Sometimes a severe itch, discharging sinuses and\nulcers covered with whitish matter develop.  White spots appear on\nthe skin.  Once I saw a patient who had widespread painful whitish\nulcers on and around the thighs that were  intractable.  With the use of\nMercury, he was, by the grace of  God, completely cured within a\nmonth.\n\nWhen the sores developing on the skin turn into ulcers with raised\nedges, and there is a fear of gangrene formation, then Merc Cor\ninstead of Merc Sol is a better remedy.  The difference between the\ntwo, it that Merc Sol is relatively mild but long acting compared to\nMerc Cor.  The ailments of Merc Cor happen to be severe and of acute\nnature.  Merc Cor is distinctively a fast-acting remedy in acute as well\nas chronic conditions.  Chronic dysentery associated with passage\nof mucus and blood  should be treated with Merc Sol.  If, however,\nthe dysentery is of acute onset and is associated with severe gripes\n(tenesmus) and continuous bleedin g, then Merc Cor will be found\nmore effective.\n\nIn Mercury ailments, the gangrenous process  involves the lips, the\ninside of the cheeks and the gums (cancrum oris).  The overlying skin\nbecomes dark and looks horrible.  In syphilis, a similar affliction is\nnoted on these areas. The nose may also be affected with the resultant\ndecay of the nasal bones.  Chronic ulcers of the mouth  are also\nsuggestive of Mercury ailments.\n\nOne sign of Mercury is the forma tion of white specks on the skin\nresembling leucoderma.  This condition is neither leucoderma, nor do\nthe spots spread and coalesce lik e leucoderma.  But, if the\nconstitutional symptoms of Mercury are also present, then Mercury\ncan effectively cure even leucoderma.  Another tine, a patient had\nwidespread leucoderma affecting th e entire body and also had the\ngeneral symptoms of Mercury.  A single dose of Mercury 1000\nresulted in the disappearance of his white patches for good, within the\nweek.  When Mercury benefits skin  conditions, it does not afflict any\ndamage to deeper glands, but, while it primarily works on the deep\nglands and organs, it may surface so me kind of skin condition.  This\nshows that the Mercury has rendere d the glands healthy by pushing\nthe disease from the inside, out to the skin.\n\nThe Founder of the Ahmadiyya Community is believed to be the\nSecond Coming of the first Messi ah by the Ahmadiyya Community.\nHe put forth a unique discovery, to enhance the faith of homoeopathic\nphysicians in homoeopathy. He further said that he had a strong desire to\nproclaim the extreme usefulness of these two potentially curative\nmedicines.\n\nMercury is useful in the treatment of chronic bone pains , especially\nof the superficial bones that are de void of any muscle padding under\nthe skin. Mercury should not be forgotten while considering the\ntreatment of chronic sinuses connect ed to the bones or glands.  A\npeculiar symptom of Mercury is that  joint pains tend to be associated\nwith pus formation.  The constitution  of a Mercury patient is like that\nof syphilis.  Therefore the bones, when inflamed, develop sinuses and\nproduce pus.  Conventional therapy cons ists of aspirating the pus with\na syringe.  On the other hand, Mercur y when started in a low potency\nand then gradually increased, can in fact produce better results.\nHowever, a high potency, right at th e onset of the disease, can prove\ndangerous.  In chronic diseases, the potency should be increased\ngradually.  The safest way is that th e treatment should be initiated in a\nlow potency and then gradually increased.\n\nAnother characteristic of Mercury is that arthritis and rheumatism are\nassociated with swelling and infl ammation.  Suffering increases with\nthe warmth of the bed and on sweat ing.  The patient sweats profusely\nyet gets no relief.  Hi s restlessness continues in spite of frequent\nsweating.  In acute tonsillitis, when the fever subsides on sweating, the\npatient\u2019s condition further deteriorates.  In this condition, two to three\ndoses of Mercury will first bring back the fever and then make it\nsubside gradually.  The patient sweats profusely once instead of\nsweating repeatedly.  In this fever,  susceptible to Mercury, one sign is\nthat the child\u2019s eyes appear glossy  as if painted with varnish.  In\nmeasles and chicken pox too, the eyes  have a similar appearance for\nas long as the rash has not appeared.  Their breath has a foetid odour.\nThe child may develop meningitis and have visual delusions.  In this\ncondition, if Mercury becomes ine ffective, Hepar Sulph should be\nused.  If this also fails, then Si licea will be found effective by God\u2019s\ngrace.  Usually this condition is within the range of these three\nremedies.  I also use a biochemic prescription for such conditions and\nthat is Natrum Phos, Ferrum P hos, Silicea, Kali Mur and Calcarea\nPhos in 6X.  For inflamed tonsils , Calcarea Fluor should also be\nadded and the mixture administered repeatedly.  This prescription has\noften proved very useful.  If the illn ess is still not controlled and the\npatient has the symptoms of Merc ury, then Mercury must be used,\nafter Hepar Sulph of course.\n\nMercury has a fluctuating nature.  Its ailments show ups and downs in\ntheir severity.  Blood pressure and fever can also behave the same\nway.  In other words, Merc Sol should be used for the treatment of any\ninconsistent type of condition.\n\nWhen the symptoms of Mercury become severe, the hands tremble\nand become weak. One becomes incap able of even holding a cup of\ntea.\n\nMercury may possibly be of benefit in the treatment of epilepsy-like\nconditions in children as well as neurological diseases associated with\nspontaneous involuntary movements of the limbs  (chorea,\nathetosis).\n\nA Mercury patient has an impulsive nature, speaks rather fast and is\nimpatient.  He wants to do things at the spur of the moment.  His\nanger knows no bounds.  The tendency towards insanity may be very\nstrong.  When emotionally excited, he is very dangerous.  He may\ncommit a serious crime or kill hims elf.  He remains tense and is\nextremely restless.  He is fearful of becoming insane and of death.  He\nbecomes a coward and possesses a suspicious mind.  He loses hope in\nlife.  When questioned, he replies carefully and slowly.  Memory and\nthe mind become weak .  The headache in a Mercury patient is\nconnected to the suppression of body discharges.  For example, the\nsuppression of sweatin g of feet or the s udden stoppage of nasal\nsecretions will precipitate the headache. A sudden cessation of\nmenses will also provoke the headache .  The head feels tied up with\na bandage.  On lying flat on the ba ck, the patient feels dizzy.  The\nSkull feels tightly squeezed and unde r pressure.  Burning and itching\nare also common.\n\nMercury ailments intensify in the cold as well as hot weather.  Gusty\nwind is unbearable.  If after measles etc., the head seems expanding,\nthen Mercury can put a stop to this tendency immediately.\n\nThe skin of Mercury patients has a clay-like appearance.  Secretions\nfrom the itchy and eczematous skin are offensive and start bleeding.\nThe edges of the ulcers are rounded in shape and covered with white\nexudates.  Skin conditions aggravate at night.  The warmth of the bed\naggravates symptoms.\n\nThe eyes become inflamed and red along with a burning sensation.\nThere is a lot of watery discharge from the eyes.  Black dots appear\nbefore the eyes.  On looking towards the fire, the eyes become red and\nswollen.  There is pain around the eyes and at th e temples. The vision\nbecomes blurred.  The cornea becomes inflamed.  Eyes become\nhypersensitive to light.  All the eye symptoms of \u2018pink eye\u2019 at the\nonset of summer are also  found in Mercury.  If  the eye symptoms are\nnot clearly identified, then Merc Sol should be used.  Seeing the sun\nduring its eclipse  can seriously damage the retina of the eye .  The\neffect may not become apparent right away.  Damage shows up years\nafter the incident. Black dots appear in the visual field.  Sometimes the\nright eye gets blinded and at other times, the left eye.  The patient then\ngradually becomes totally blind.  Th is blindness is not amenable to\nany kind of conventional therapy so fa r.  However, two to three doses\nof Merc Cor CM given monthly seem to be of benefit, by the grace of\nGod.  The process of being blinded stops there and then.  It is not\npossible to repair the detached retina that definitely needs to be treated\nwith laser surgery.  Some doctors are of the opinion that Merc Sol, in\na low potency, may benefit many retin al conditions.  I have no such\nexperience.  I suggest more research should be carried out.\n\nStinky, white or dark green pus discharging from the ears is a typical\nsign of Mercury.  The inner as well as the outer ear become\ninfected.  The ear-drum (tympanic membrane) may perforate causing\ndeafness.\n\nSometimes, Merc Sol can quickly control the common cold, although\nthis is only a superficial treatment.  Since Merc Sol is not a long\nacting remedy, one should not depend on it.  Instead, for a persistent\ncommon cold, one should use Kali Iodi de.  Kali Iodide is intimately\nrelated to the conditions affec ting the mucous membranes.\nNevertheless, Kali Iodide alone ma y not be sufficient for catarrhal\nconditions.  Several other remedies can also be used.\n\nDr. Kent has warned against the re peated use of Mercury for skin\ndiseases, lest it causes permanently serious ill effects.  It is possible\nthat Mercury may only be related to certain skin diseases and may not\nhave any similarity to the overall constitution of the patient.  The\nresult would be that some diseases might get better while the majority\nwould merely be suppressed or rendered latent.\n\nMercury is very useful in the treatment of diseases of the teeth ,\nespecially when they become brittle and the gums recede, along with\nthe formation and collection of offensive discharge ( pyorrhoea).\nTeeth turning black and decaying at their root can be treated with\nKreosotum as well as Merc Sol.  If the roots of the teeth have become\nblack, then Staphysagria works better  than Merc Sol.  In congenital\nsyphilis, the teeth of the children decay at an early age and become\nblack. The tongue appears to be thick and expanded with teeth\nmarkings on its margins.  Deep ulcers form inside the mouth .  The\ngums hurt on eating or on touch.  Extremely foetid odour from the\nmouth fills the entire room.  In Mercury, the taste of the mouth\nbecomes metallic.  The throat is red and swollen.  Due to excessive\nsalivation, the patient need s to constantly swallow it.  Any change of\nweather results in inflammation of the throat. A worsening of the\ndiscomfort on drinking hot  fluids, the difficulty in swallowing liquids\nand the persistent feeling of somethi ng being stuck in the throat (as in\nHepar Sulph), need to be treated with Mercury.\n\nThe appetite of a Mercury patient is either markedly increased or it is\ntotally lost.  There is aversion to meat, coffee and fatty food.  There is\nan intense feeling of weakness alo ng with increased appetite.  Milk\nand sweets produce hyperacidity in the stomach.  The patient has a\nstrong desire to drink cold liquids.  The stomach feels inflamed,\nburns inside and is tender to the touch .  The patient experiences\nhiccups as well as belching.  The st omach becomes tense.  There is a\nfeeling of a pin pricking over the ar ea of the liver.  The patient feels\nuncomfortable while lying on the right side.  Dysentery and a\nstinging type of abdominal pain  are also the symptoms of Mercury.\nIn Merc Cor, there is irritation a nd inflammation of the bladder also.\nUrination becomes frequent and interrupted, associated with\nscalding.  Dysentery also sets in.  In the presence of all these\nsymptoms, Merc Cor proves to be almost a sure shot remedy.  Acute\nsummer dysentery  can also be effectively treated with Aconite and\nIpecac.\n\nOne symptom of Mercury is that th e heart starts beating fast on the\nslightest physical exertion.  There is a feeling of weakness over the\nheart.  The symptoms become worse at night.  The limbs tremble, but\nespecially the hands and the feet.  There may also be sudden jolting of\nthe muscles (tonic convulsions).   The body feels unusually heavy,\nweak and tired.  The stiffness becomes worse at night in the warmth of\nthe bed.\n\nRegarding the diseases of women, such as stinging and burning the\novaries, excessive menstrual bleeding , abdominal pain, the abrasive\ntype of leucorrhoea getting worse at nigh t, morning sickness and\nscalding urination, followed by itching which gets relieved on\nwashing with cold water; are all th e signs of, and effectively treatable\nwith, Merc Sol.  Abortion, in the early months of pregnancy, resulting\nfrom weakness can be treated with Merc Sol.  Merc Sol removes the\nweakness and provides the strength to carry the pregnancy through.\n\nMercury cannot cure the cancer of the uterus or the breast , but\ndefinitely ameliorates the pain and relieves the suffering.  Non-\ncancerous lumps can however be cu red with Mercury.  One Mercury\ncompound called Proto Iodide has prove d to be very useful in the\ntreatment of breast cancer .  Dr. Kent used to prescribe Proto Iodide\n100 for the treatment of pain due to cancer of the breast.  It helped\nevery time it was used.  Dr. Kent had noted an egg-sized cancerous\nlump of the breast was resolved or dissolved completely with the use\nof Proto Iodide of Mercury.  It benefits more on the right-sided\ntumour, while another compound of Mercury-bin-Iodide, works better\non the left-sided tumour.\n\nMerc Sol is very useful in the treatment of spasmodic stiffness of\nthe neck, on exposure to the cold.  If the suffering is noted as first\nthing in the morning, then Belladonna should be used first.  If it fails,\nthen use Merc Sol.\n\nIn certain paralytic conditions , there can be spontaneous jerky\nmovements of the limbs , bending them.  These too may possibly be\ntreated with Merc Sol. Its Eczema and the ulcers are associated with a\nburning and piercing sensation.  The exudating smells are extremely\nfoul and nauseating.  In this type of symptom complex, any\nhomoeopathic remedy of which the main constituent is Mercury will\nbe found useful with rare exceptions.\n\nThe symptoms of a patient of Mercury aggravate at night, like\nSyphilinum and Sulphur.  In Sulphur, the aggravation is due to the\nwarmth of the bed, while in Mercury it is the time of the night, that\naggravates whether the patient is asleep in bed or not.\n\nAntidotes:  Hepar Sulph, Aurum, Mezerium\nPotency:  30 up to CM","modalities":"","symptoms_by_system":[],"schema_version":"1.0","api_provider":"Allahshafi"}
