It\nhas proved to be very useful in the treatment of inherited\nGonorrhoeal diseases .  The role of Syphilinum in the treatment of\nhereditary Syphilis is similar to that of Medorrhinum in hereditary\nGonorrhoea.  If these remedies are not used, then these diseases\nbecome a permanent part of the pe rson\u2019s life, flaring up every now\nand then and become difficult to get rid off.  Some eminent doctors\nare of the opinion that syphilis an d gonorrhoea have been present in\nhuman society since ancient times a nd their toxins have been passed\non from generation to generation.  The sufferer does not have to\ncontract the disease personally.  His\/her symptoms of syphilis and\ngonorrhoea may very well be hereditary in nature.\n\nPreviously, the treatment of syphilis  was considered to be very\ndifficult.  It consisted of mercur y compounds.  Nowadays, penicillin\ngiven continuously for a month is cons idered to offer a complete cure.\nAccording to homoeopathy, syphilis is incurable.  It simply disguises\nitself in different forms.  It becomes dormant, only to reappear when\nthe conditions become favourable.  M odern research in allopathy is\nalso supportive of this homoeopath ic view.  During research on AIDS\nin America, it came to be known that many AIDS patients suddenly\nshowed signs of syphilis, although pr eviously they had no trace of it.\nOn retracing their family history, it was observed without a shadow of\ndoubt, that the ancestors of at le ast some of them suffered from\nsyphilis, which was treated with Mercury compounds.  However the\nSyphilis was only suppressed and persisted in dormant form.  Similar\nis the case with gonorrhoea.  This also gets passed on from generation\nto generation.  Unless complete ly uprooted, the treatment of\ngonorrhoea and resultant di seases would only prove  superficial.  The\ndiseases of the reproductive orga ns in men as well as in women ,\ndue to the result of gonorrhoea ha ving been suppressed, may present\nin two different forms i.e. over-excitement or total palliation.  There\nmay be complete loss of libido.  In short, the sexual behaviour of the\npatient is extreme, either one way or the other, but nothing in between.\nMedorrhinum is considered to be the most highly valued treatment of\nsuppressed gonorrhoea  (latent gonorrhoea).  In fact, most of the\ndoctors advise using it first and foremost.  Medorrhinum in high\npotency will surface the symptoms of latent gonorrhoea, which can\nthen be treated appropriately.  Fu rthermore, dangerous consequences\nwill also be thus avoided.\n\nAsthma also is related to Medorrhinum.  Marasmus (the wasting\ndisease of the children), asthma, chronic nasal catarrh, ringworm\nand special forms of warts  remain dormant in the body as sequelae\nof suppressed gonorrhoea, only to express themselves on and off.  The\nwarts of any kind and form not amenable to Thuja may respond to\nMedorrhinum.\n\nSome women, who suffer from irregularity of periods, pain or\nnervous weakness after marriage, may need to be treated with\nMedorrhinum.  Patients feel extremel y cold yet sweat profusely.  The\npalms of their hands may feel lik e burning, though the right and left\nhands may become cold alternately,  or sometimes both hands at the\nsame time.\n\nMultiple joint pains and rheumatism  provided other symptoms of\nMedorrhinum are also present,  benefit significantly from\nMedorrhinum.  Although, most of its a ilments present from sunrise to\nsunset, some become especially pronounced at night such as seeing\nghosts or dead people in frightful dreams all night.  Urinary symptoms\nalso become more severe at night, such as frequent urination or\nurgency to the extent that the patient may not be able to make it to the\nlavatory.  Such patients also have some swelling or inflammation of\nthe prostate glands.\n\nThuja also resembles Medorrhinum in  certain respects.  Most of its\nsymptoms worsen after midnight.  In multiple joint pains ,\nMedorrhinum will surface the true symptoms of the latent disease so it\nmay be treated easily.\n\nAnother symptom of Me dorrhinum is the sensation of pins and\nneedles all over, along with urticaria.  Noise, especially a loud noise,\ncauses mental anguish and then urticaria.  In Medorrhinum, swelling\nof feet and legs is usual. The lo wer legs (below the knees) become\ncold.  Sometimes, the soles of the feet are extremely sensitive; so\nmuch so that the patient will is not able to walk on his feet.  He will\neither crawl on his knees or walk extremely carefully, putting\nminimum pressure on the sole of the feet.  On walking a little, the feet\nbecome warm making the walk easier.  But afterwards, the discomfort\nin the soles becomes more intense.\n\nAnother salient feature of Medorrhin um is that the time seems to pass\nvery slowly.  Young boys and girl s feel as if somebody is standing\nbehind them.  They become frequently startled and look back to see\nif somebody has quietly approached them from behind.  They believe\nthat they are being watched. Medorrhinum, as well as Phosphorus, is\nvery useful to abate th is feeling.  In Phosphorus  also, the patient has a\nfeeling as if somebody is peepin g over him. The toxic effects of\ncertain diseases cause this feeling.\n\nIn Medorrhinum, the patient is afraid of the dark  and has a fear of\nfalling.  The Scalp feels tense and ti ght.  Medorrhinum has also been\nvery successful in the treatment of skin conditions and dandruff .\nIts symptoms pertaining to the hair are similar to those of Natrum\nMur. Both of these remedies are re lated to gonorrhoeal diseases.  In\nNatrum Mur, the hair becomes dry  and brittle along with severe\ndandruff.  In certain cases, Medorrhinum alone can cure these\nconditions.\n\nSome people become nervous easily.  O bjects start to dance before\nthem.  The vision becomes blurred a nd does not focus.  Black or\nbrown spots appear before the eyes.  The patient may have double\nvision.  If these symptoms become chronic, then Medorrhinum will be\nfound very useful.  Hallucinations, tension in the eyes, mental anguish\nand falling eyelashes can also be successfully treated with\nMedorrhinum.  Also in Medorrhinum as in Apis, there are bags below\nthe eyes.  In Apis, the swelling hangs, while in Medorrhinum the\nswelling is rather diffuse.\n\nMedorrhinum, given in very high potency, is also useful in the\ntreatment of chronic nasal catarrh .  It shows that there is a deep-\nseated residue of gonorrhoea, whic h is out of the reach of common\nremedies.  Medorrhinum is useful in  chronic catarrh as the disease is\ndeep-seated it will only respond to high potency of Medorrhinum CM\nor at least 10000.  It proves to be extremely valuable in this condition.\nMedorrhinum is very useful if th e patient feels extremely hungry and\ncraves to eat insatiably when nervous , or similarly if his severe thirst\nbecomes unquenchable.  Extreme hunger is also known in Psorinum,\nbut it mostly bothers at night.\nMedorrhinum has been found useful in the treatment of ascites\n(accumulation of water in the abdome n due to liver disease), as well\nas the swelling and inflammation of glands in the groins.\n\nThe constipation of Medorrhinum is characterised by stools in the\nform of dry rounded droppings.  The urine is scanty, brown in colour,\nvery pungent and less frequent.  It is possible that Medorrhinum may\nalso be helpful to patien ts who have been rendered physically\ndisabled and limp due to chronic joint pains .  It is also useful in the\ntreatment of frequent urination due to neurosis but not due to diabetes.\n\nMedorrhinum is also closely linked to conditions related to the\nkidney, urinary bladder and prostate gland.  The first and foremost\ntreatment of kidney pain  (renal colic) is Aconite 1000 and\nBelladonna 1000 combined, two doses given ten minutes apart.  The\npatient will, by the grace of God, get better immediately.  If the kidney\npain gets worse with cold, then Ma g Phos 6X repeated a few times or\nsimply one dose of Colocynth CM will offer magical relief.  After the\nrelief of pain, its root cause i.e.  the kidney stones, must be treated\nappropriately.  If the kidney pa in is caused by inflammation or\ninfection rather than by stones, the proper curative treatment should be\nsought, and this could be Medorrhinum.\n\nMedorrhinum is also related to deafness, especially nerve deafness, in\nwhich the patient feels no pain.  Medorrhinum is useful in chronic and\nprogressive deafness. However, Sulphur should not be overlooked.  In\nfact, I have treated patients who had developed deafness due to the\nthickening of the bone around the aud itory nerve (otosc lerosis) with\nSulphur CM.  The thickening tende ncy of the bone disappeared and\nhearing did not deteriorate any further.\n\nIn Medorrhinum, the teeth being very sensitive  hurt on chewing\nfood.  Ulcers, having jagged margins, also form in the mouth .\nMedorrhinum has also been found beneficial in the treatment of\nchronic ankle pain.\n\nMedorrhinum is deeply related to asthma also.  Generally, Nat Sulph\nis considered to be a very effective remedy for asthma.  Natrum Sulph\nis often found useful in the treatment of children presenting symptoms\nof a familial type of gonorrhoea, but sometimes Medorrhinum may\nalso be required, so as to better express the latent symptoms of\ngonorrhoea.  Calcarea Sulph is also reported to be very effective in the\ntreatment of gonorrhoea.  If phlegm  becomes deeply seated in the\nlungs and is difficult to cough out, a nd other homoeopathic remedies\nhave proved ineffective, then Me dorrhinum may offer substantial\ncure.  Kali Iodide and Arsenic Iodide  are also useful for the expulsion\nof deep-seated phlegm from the lu ngs.  For the treatment of deep\nulcers resulting from the dislodgment of  thick sputum or phlegm, Kali\nIodide is better, but for relatively superficial ul cers, Arsenic Iodide is\nbetter.\n\nMedorrhinum is considered very useful in the treatment of lightning\ntype of joint pains  associated with severe pain in the chest.  Like\nLachesis, its pain and burning is also  over the left side of the chest.\nSlip disc with resulting nerve root pain (sciatica) should be thoroughly\ninvestigated before treatment. If the investigatio n is inconclusive then\nMedorrhinum can be given in high pot ency and then wait for seven to\nten days.  I happened to treat one such patient with Colocynth based\non his symptoms.  He responded well, but after a while, the condition\nstopped improving any further.  So I gave him Medorrhinum instead\nof Colocynth CM wherupon his original symptoms returned including\nthe severe pain.  Had I continued to  treat him with a high potency of\nMedorrhinum, he might have been completely cured.  The patient was\nrather impatient, so I gave him Co locynth, instead of Medorrhinum as\nI had proposed.  This time, Colocynth proved to be much more\neffective.  I failed to follow him further and do not know whether he\nwas fully cured or not.\n\nSometimes, the legs may feel very heavy due to pain in the back .\nThe legs become stiff.  This is suggestive of Medorrhinum.  At times,\nthe spasm impedes circulation .  This remedy also shows sign of\ncramp especially in the calves of the legs.   If a person feels cramps in\nthe legs on standing for a long time, then Mag Phos 6X may also be\nuseful.  In Medorrhin um however, cramps also affect the under\nsurface of the feet, which tend to be drawn and turn inwards.\n\nMany of the symptoms of Medorrhinum become worse in the heat of\nthe sun.  Humidity and the seaside offer relief.
