## Keynote Indications
The symptoms of the Lob -s. proving, while in many points like those of the other lobelias, 
do not bring out the emetic properties of Lob. There is, however, epigastric sinking, flatulence, dyspepsia and 
diarrhea. Lob-c., Lob. and Lob-s. all have a milky juice. 
Lob-s. gives a perfect picture  of sneezing influenza involving the posterior sinuses, palate and fauces. 
Eustachian catarrh. Internal nose painfully sensitive to cool air. Dull, aching pain over root of nose. Breath ing 
difficult. 
Depressed. Flushing after dinner better somewhat in op en air. Great oppression in lower part of chest,  as 
if air could not reach there. Dry, hacking cough. Pain in chest under short ribs of left side. 
Pain in forehead over eyes, pain and gas in bowels, followed by copious watery stools with tenesmus and 
soreness of anus. Pain in posterior part of spleen. Pain in knees. Prickling in soles.

## Modalities (Aggravations / Ameliorations)
Soreness of ischium worse from touch. Worse motion, mental exertion, at dinner, at night.

- COMMENTS - Hale quoted Rafinesque as saying that the analysis of Lob-s.
- shows it to contain silex, iron and 
muriate and phosphate of lime.
- The marked action of Lob -s.
- on the posterior sinuse s led Cooper to use it with success in cases of deafness 
arising from an “unhealthy, soft, swollen, easily bleeding catarrhal” condition of the nose -pharynx.
- This is 
emphasized by another symptom: “Dull aching pain in center of forehead, over root of nose.
- ” 
Cooper, who used an acetic preparation, considered that with this, as well as with the Inflata, a history of 
suppression is a leading indication.
- There are many notable symptoms in the back, back of chest and about 
the lower ribs.
- Some of these led Jeanes (the first pro ver) to make a very fine cure of melancholia in an educated intelligent 
man.
- “Great depression of spirits, unhappy state of mind, always associated with pain about and under short 
ribs in back on left side, extending outward nearly to left side, posterior aspect of region of spleen.” 
Pain on inside of right scapula.
- Farrington added, “Pain under (not below) inner bor der of left scapula, worse 
after weeping.” Pain in right maxillary joint with pain in middle of right lung, breast, lary nx, left side of chest 
near axilla with aching in left shoulder and arm.
- Pains travel about, from right to left, from left tonsil to right, from back down legs, from eighth rib downward, 
aching from back of head down nape.
- Pain in posterior aspect of spleen.
