## Keynote Indications
Dry, spasmodic, con stricted cough. Violent dyspnea associated with the cough. 
Threatened suffocation. Whooping cough, with breath loss, pale, stiff and blue, and rigidity of the body. Cough 
with tightness of chest, as if it would burst with bronchial rattle, obstruction of breath and sneezing.  
Vomiting with the cough, no food or drink is retained. Dry mucus membranes, especially of the mouth and 
throat, with thirst. Tough expectoration. Acute catarrhal conditions of the respiratory tract, particu larly in the 
beginning. Colds. 
Coryza, fluent, acrid with vi olent sneez ing, coughing or asthmatic attacks. Fits of sneezing  with 
lachrymation and loss of smell and taste. Allergies and hay fever.  Bronchitis, pneumonia. First stages of 
tuberculosis, with spitting of blood. Hoarseness. 
Functional derangements of the liver. Jaundice. Thirst. Great loss of appetite. Obstinate constipation. 
Stiffening out, trembling and convulsions with cough or fever. Puffy hands and feet in morning. Chilliness. 
Fever. Marked oversensitiveness to external impressions.

Worse in a close room, from dust, noise, eating.

- COMMENTS - Blackwood wrote, “This one of the most ancient drugs in India, the most highly valued by 
Ayurveda.
- Its field of use is in colds, coryza, cough of any kind, vomiting, bronchitis, pneumonia, tuberculosis, 
spitting of blood.
- Fevers, jaundice, loss of appetite, and constipation.
- These ailments are what the ancient 
physicians use it for.” 
It was proved by two men, twenty -seven and thirty -two years of age; their symptoms were later clinically 
verified.
- Proving symptoms included catarrh, violent sneezing, watering eyes, profuse coryza, loss of appetite, 
vomiting, liver pains, hoarseness and very painful suffocative cough with blood streake d mucus and high 
temperature.
- Ghose recorded a case of coryza.
- “My son had an attack of cold.
- He had fluent coryza, with constant sneezing; 
there was hoarseness with swollen nose; there was stoppage of nose at night; there was also thirst; no appetite 
existed; there were occasional coughing fits, but no expectoration ensued.
- “I prescribed Justicia 1 x every three hours.
- After administration of the third dose he fell asleep.
- He came round 
within three days.
- From the second day there was no hoarseness.” 
Ghose also recorded another case of co ryza.
- The son of Babu Bhupati Choudhuri, of Bhowanipore.
- suffered 
from a severe attack of cold.
- Copious fluent coryza, ac companied by violent coughing, the eyes were 
somewhat swollen and watered all the time; he was feverish.
- Ghose prescribed Just, lx every three hours, and 
he was fully cured within two days.
