After an attack of influenza of moderate \nintensity in 1890, he suffered from cardiac weakness for over two years. Every waking mom ent was attended \nwith cardiac distress. \nOn the least agitation the weakness de veloped into irregular palpitation with great anxiety. Worse from \ntobacco, which had to be discarded. Worse from wine, except port.
