# Helianthus Tuberosus

## Keynote Indications
Helia. is a spleen remedy (Cean.). Spleen disorders. Chronic cases of intermittent fever. 
Coryza, catarrh, nasal hemorrhage and thick scabs in nose. Rheu matic pain in left knee. Externally, used as  
a vulnerary like Arn. and Calen. 
In the pro vers there were marked effects on stomach, with nausea and vomiting. Conges tion and dryness of 
mouth and pharynx. 
Dry mouth. Redness and heat of skin, worseexternal warmth. Black stools (Lept.), soft, with an e mission of 
semen; stools become black, hard, occurring every other day. Hemorrhoids.

## Modalities (Aggravations / Ameliorations)
Better after vomiting. Worse from external heat, especially the skin.

## Symptoms by System

### Head
- Headache.
- Headache.

### Eyes
- Slight redness on margin of left upper lid with smarting in inner canthus.
- Eyes suffused.
- Weakness of 
the eyes.

### Face
- Anxious, countenance.
- Face deeply flushed.

### Mouth
- Tongue and fauces very red and inclined to dryness.
- Unusually hot taste when eating.
- Difficulty in 
articulation.
- Sticking in upper back teeth.
- Nose - Coryza, catarrh.
- Nosebleeds and thick scabs in nose.

### Throat
- Voice hoarse.
- Stiffness and dryness of the throat.
- Sensation of glowing in the throat and stomach.
- Severe burning in fauces, esophagus and epigastrium.
- COMMENTS - Dr.
- Cessoles proved the ex pressed juice of the flowers, some observa tions have also been 
made on the effects of eating the seeds.
- In some parts of America the Native Americans use the seeds as an 
article of food.
- Hansen said it equals Arn.
- and Calen., also yellow-flowered composites, as an application to wounds.
- Burnett 
regarded Helianthus as a great spleen remedy.

### Chest
- Cough in forenoon with gelatinous expectoration streaked with blood.
- Breath rather difficult and 
hurried.

### Stomach & Abdomen
- Vomiting, increasing in severity- Spleen enlarged and painful.
- Thirst, nausea.

### Extremities
- Rheumatic pain in left knee on descending stairs.

### Skin
- Skin generally of scarlet redness and very hot.
- Tingling of skin.
- Many urticaria like pimples.
- Groups of 
red pimples on inner side of knee with slight itching.
- Small red tetter to right of navel.
- Measles.
