## Keynote Indications
The leaves have a bitter, astringent andslightly acid taste. Immediately after chewing them, 
the sense of taste for sugar and for bitters were lost, the effect lasting some hours.  
Sense of taste altered.  Everything else could be tasted, for instance, the ginger in gingerbread, but not th e 
sweet. Quinine tasted like chalk.
