## Keynote Indications
Diphtherinum is useful as a prophylacti c in diphtheria, post -diphtheria complications like 
paralysis, or when the diphtheria vaccination  was used. Adapted to scrofulous individuals and patients 
prone to catarrhal disorders of respiratory organs. 
Diphtheria, laryngeal diphtheria. Postdiphtheria paralysis. Painless diphtheria, symptoms almost or entirely 
objective. Patient too weak, apathetic or too prostrated to complain. Sopor or stupor, but easily aroused when 
spoken to (Bapt., Sulph.). Relapsing diphtheria. 
Diphtherinum 
Patients with weak or exhausted vitality, hence are extremely susceptible to the virus, when the attack from 
the onset tends to ma lignancy (Lac -c., Merc -cy.). Glands swollen, tongue red and swollen, breath and 
discharge very offensive. Diphtheria membrane is thick, dark. Noseb leed, profound prostra tion. Swallows 
without pain, but fluids are vomited or returned by the nose. 
Tendency to colds and bronchitis,  palpitations. Severe sore throats, and inflamed tonsils.  Catarrhal 
disorders of the respiratory passage. Offensive discharges. Internal trembling. Emaciation and chilliness. Jerk-
ing in single muscles. Drawing in muscles, then sudden snap. Carphology.

Better from heat. Better in bed. Better cold. Better drinking milk in sips. Worse from lying down. 
Worse movement.

- COMMENTS - The potencies of this nosode are prepared either from the diphtheria bacte ria or membrane s 
from an affected patient.
- It was first made from the membrane from a case of malignant diphtheria, trimrated 
with milk sugar to the 6c, then potentized by Swan.
- Diphtherinum has cured of diphtheria and post -diphtheria disorders to its credit.
- These potencies have been 
very effective not only in malignant diphtheria but in many cases of post -diphtheria paralysis and nervous 
disorders following the use of anti-toxin.
- Clarke wrote that, in diphtheria, the malignancy is present from the start.
- The well-known features of diphtheria 
must be the guide to the use of this nosode.

of diphtheria and other similar spinal affections.

- Julian described his own research and clinical experiences as a practicing doctor in his village between 
1935and 1939 where he had to treat cases of diphtheria.
- The indications he gave are chi efly clinical, including a fluctuating temperature, very little pain, membrane in 
vertical folds on posterior wall of throat.
- When the membrane first appeared, it spread forward as far as the 
border of the tonsils and began to fade and disappear first from the center of posterior pharynx.

reaction very low.

### Chest
- Paleness with palpitations.
- Tachycardia.
- Hypotension, adyamia.
- Dyspnea.
- Bronchitis.

- Croup.
- Harsh cough, voice lost.
- Persistent, humid cough with bad 
smelling, fetid expectorations.
- Difficulty to expectorate, worse at night, especially in children and old persons.

### Stomach & Abdomen
- Pain in the epigastric region.
- Constitutions - Adapted to strumous diathe sis, scrofulous, psoric or tubercular per sons, prone to catarrhal 
disorders of throat and respiratory mucus membranes.

### Extremities
- Polyneuritis.

### Skin
- Dry, hot palms, feel withered.
- Dry skin.

### Sleep
- Talks in sleep with open eyes.
- Stomach - Faintness, better sips of milk.
- Temperature - Low temperature, chilliness with palpitations, hypotension.
- Chilly, then hot.
- Subfebrile state.
