## Keynote Indications
Red coral, the product of a coralligene zoophyte, contains calcium carbonate and iron oxide 
(the origin of its color), gelatin and otherelements. In medical alchemy, red coral was considered to have 
“strengthening tonic properties, ” and to be astringent, sudorific, diuretic and absorbent. 
Cor-r. affects the mucus membranes, espe cially of respiratory organs. The provings of coral develop much 
coryza, nosebleed and even ulceration within the nostrils. 
Eruptions, which are for the most part of its own color, coral-red. Red spots on the palms of the hands, at first 
coral, then darker, and finally coppery. Coral-red chancres. 
Whooping and spasmodic coughs, es pecially when the attack comes on with a very rapid coughs  and the 
attacks follow so closely as to almost run into each other. Violent coughing attacks. Coughs often preceded 
by sensation of smothering, followed by exhaustion. Coughs with expectoration of blood.  Congestion of 
face, purple colored face, after dinner. 
Ulcerations in the respiratory organs with a stringy discharge. Feeling as if cold air were streaming through 
skull and air-passages. Too cold when uncovered and too hot when covered, better by artificial heat.

Better - covering. Worse from inhaling air. Worse open air. Worse changing from a warm to cold 
room. Worse eating. Worse towards morning. Worse stooping. Worse after dinner. Worse touch. Worse 
uncovering.

### Mind
- Peevish, inclined to scold and swear at his pain s.
- Irascibility and ill-humor.
- Wine has a natural taste, 
but immediately stupefies him.
- Delusion, feels as if newly born in the world and overwhelmed with wonder at the novelty of his surroundings.
- Stupefaction after wine.
- Confusion after beer.
- Confusion from spirituous liquors.
- Fear of suffering.

- Hot and painful eyes, bathed in tears on closing.
- Sensation of compression in the orbit.

- Burning of eyes from candlelight.
- Pressure as from sand in reddened eyes - in evening.
- Enlarged pupils in 
whooping cough.
- Extremely sensitive drawing pain in left orbit.

### Face
- Grows purple and black with coughing.
- Heat in the face, worse on bending head forward, by stooping.
- Pain, as from dislocation in the maxillary joint.
- Left zygoma painful, as if bruised, worse touch.
- Left articulation 
of lower jaw as if sprained, when moving jaw.
- Painful swelling of left submaxillary gland worse swallowing or 
bending head forward.

### Mouth
- Food tastes like sawdust.
- Bread tastes like straw.
- Beer tastes  sweet.

- White coated tongue in whooping cough.

- Lips chapped, painful and swollen.
- Nose - Great dryness of mucus membrane of nose and throat.

- Profuse secretion of mucus dropping through posterior sinuses.

- Perspiration - Profuse sweat on genitals.

### Throat
- Great dryness of fauces.
- Throat very sensitive, especially to cold air, causes coughing.
- Gre at 
dryness of the palate, fauces and throat.
- Constant hawking, from the accumulation of mucus in the posterior 
sinuses.
- Sensation of excoriation on swallowing.
- Laryngismus stridulus resembling whooping cough.

- an infant, a year old, suffering from laryngismus stridulus, the indications being 
worse during sleep and after waking.
- Lach., given first, failed to relieve.
- Guernsey's indication is “Whooping cough or any other kind of cough when the attack comes on with a very 
rapid cough and the attacks follow so closely as to almost run into e ach other.” Found most effective in the 
nervous “machine-gun” cough where the patient gives an isolated cough at regular intervals through the day.
- Nash found it the most useful of all rem edies in post -nasal catarrh.
- Guernsey's other indication is “red.

### Chest
- Sensation as if cold air were streaming through air -passages in morn ing on deep inspiration, with 
provocation to cough.

- Short, barking cough.

- Teeth - Every tooth on the left side feels as if set on edge.
- As if the teeth were too close to one another or 
as if a tenacious body were lodged between them.
- Temperature - Chill, but skin of usual warmth.
- Chill with headache and violent thirst.

- Febrile shivering, with burning thirst.
- Dry heat internally and externally, with full and hard pulse.

without thirst, and not followed by perspiration.

### Urinary & Genital
- Balanitis.
- Ulcers on gians and inner prepuce with yellow ichor.
- Very red flat ulcers, on glans and under 
surface of prepuce.
- Ulcers very sensitive to touch.
- Emissions and weakened sexual power.
- Swelling of 
prepuce.
- Margin of prepuce feels sore when linen touches it.
- Frenum painful, as if pricked by needles.
- Profuse 
sweat on genitals.
- Involuntary seminal emissions during sleep.

### Extremities
- Great lassitude in all limbs after a short walk in evening.
- Smooth spots of a deep -red color.
- Pressive 
pain in the shoulder blades, aggravated by coughing.
- Pain in the wrists, as if he had been writ ing much and 
rapidly.
- Pain in the knees, tibia and tarsal joint, as if he had walked a great deal.

### Neck & Back
- Stiffness in nape of neck.
- Pain as if the small of the back were broken.
- Pressing pain in scapulae during 
cough.

### Skin
- Psoriasis of palms and soles.
- Coralcolored, then dark red spots, changing to copper-colored spots.
- Red, 
flat ulcers.
- Psoriasis smooth, copper-coloured spots.

### Sleep
- Yawning, violent, frequent and in  rapid succession.
- Great sleepiness, falls asleep while standing.
- Sleeps with head under covers.
- If he uncovers himself, he feels too cold, and when covered, feels too hot.
- Can’t sleep before midnight, tosses about.
- Starts as soon as she falls asleep, from  a frightened dream.
