Source: Derived from the dried female cochineal insect ( Dactylopius coccus), a scale insect in the. Dactylopiidae family, native to Central and South America, prepared for homeopathic use through. trituration, serial dilution, and succussion to enhance therapeutic action and eliminate toxicity. Traditional Context: Historically employed in homeopathy for  respiratory, genitourinary, and. mucous membrane disorders , particularly those involving spasmodic cough, urinary irritation,. and profuse mucous secretions. It is noted for symptoms such as whooping cough-like paroxysms,. burning urination, and thick, ropy mucus, often aggravated by warmth, morning, or lying down, and. ameliorated by cold, open air, or sitting up. Modern  Context:  Indicated  for  respiratory  conditions (e.g.,  whooping  cough,  bronchitis),. genitourinary  issues (e.g.,  cystitis,  nephritis),  mucous  membrane  symptoms (e.g.,  catarrh,. laryngitis), psychological conditions (e.g., irritability, anxiety), gastrointestinal complaints (e.g.,. nausea, acid reflux), and systemic symptoms (e.g., fatigue, chills). almost 20 he frequently passed large quantities of uric acid and at the same time he began to have symptoms 
of chronic catarrh of the colon, frequent scanty stools, much mucus, cross humor, itching anus, threatening of 
hemorrhoids but no bleeding.
- Insomnia soon followed.

- 2c and 3c was given without benefit.
- Aqua calcis did some good, but not much.
- In three successive years he was sent to Carlsbad with good results to the intestinal catarrh, the sleeplessness 
was untouched.
- Gradually all kinds of arthritic symptoms developed, especially in knees.

considerable flow of urine and the more copious it was the better the patient slept and the less pain in the 
joints.
- The same relief followed an attack of diarrhea.
- Four weeks at Assmanhausen caused the excretion of large quantities of uric acid one year, but had no effect 
the next and the knee got worse.
- Wiesbaden helped one year but not the next.
- Half a tumbler of Kronenquelle water drunk every morning helped the knee and enabled him to walk better 
than he had for a long time.
- In three or four years, the excre tions of uric acid had ceased and the patient's 
state grew worse, insomnia recurred, diarrhea became much more frequent.
- A fortnight previous to such attack, the patient noticed he had great aversion to butcher's meat.
