Burning skin, became swollen and charred and all motions were painful. \nOne case went into collapse, temperature subnormal, sighing and weeping by turns. Cooper found it give great relief in menopausal flushings. \nOne woman took 30 grains of boric acid per day for a month, when there appeared a multiform erythema of \ntrunk extending to upper limbs, at the same time there ap peared a painful swelling of upper lids with \nconjunctivitis and photophobia. \nFinally the edema was so intense as to close the eyes and give the appearance of sclerosed tissue.
