Although it controls th e diarrhoea it does not\ncure the disease of the intestine ca using diarrhoea.  The pain stays\nnonetheless.  In homoeopathy, the mental symptoms of Bismuth are\nmore pronounced.  The patient does not like to be alone for even a\nmoment.  He must have somebody nearby.  In old age, many such\npatients need somebody by their side at all times.  They want to relate\ntheir story to them.\n\nBismuth is useful in toothache.  The gums are swollen; the tongue is\nwhitish and swollen.  On its margins are darkish ulcers, resembling\nthose of gangrene.\n\nThe Bismuth patient has poor digestion , and like Phosphorus and\nAethusa, the stomach does not accept water.  As soon as the fluid\nbecomes warm, the patient vomits.  However, the patient does not\nvomit after solid food.  The patient belches out foul gas.  The pain in\nthe abdomen resembles that of dioscorea.  The patient bends\nbackwards.  The nature of the pain  in the abdomen is different from\nordinary pain but the patient canno t explain it.  Du ring diarrhoea,\nthere is no pain in the abdomen.  When, after administration of\nBismuth the diarrhoea stops, the pain  in the abdomen returns.  The\nstomach feels inflamed.\n\nBismuth is also useful in the treatment of angina.  In the case of\nBismuth, the chest pain starts at the left side of the heart and radiates\nto the shoulder and down to the fingertips, instead of the pain\nnormally starting from the sternum.  Many a time, chest pain can be\ndue to ulcers in the stomach or inflammation of the stomach .  In\nboth conditions, Bismuth can be used.\n\nIn Bismuth, as in Hyoscyamus, ther e is a tendency of experiencing\nviolent sexual dreams.
