Not only is the stature of the person small but he may\nalso be mentally retarded.  Both physical and mental deficiencies go\nhand in hand.  In my experience, Ba ryta Carb works very well even in\njust a physical short stature.  It is  not right to associate every case of\nphysical dwarfism with mental de ficiency.  In my hand, by God\u2019s\ngrace, Baryta Carb has worked eq ually well in dwarfs of average\nintelligence and great thinkers alike.   Combined use of Silicea 6X and\nCalcaria Flour 6X is the best prescription for increasing height.\n\nBaryta Carb also works in dwarfs who are mentally deficient.  It has\nalso been found very effective in paralysis of long-standing, especially\nin the paralysis following typhoid and polio .  Baryta Carb used\nalternatively with Sulphur or R hus Tox has been found to produce\nwonderful results.  However, so far, there is no known remedy for\ntyphoid-stricken nervous system.  Th e toxins produced in the typhoid\nkill the nerves and there is no cure for death.  If the paralytic effects of\ntyphoid\/polio are on the muscles while  the nerves are only partially\nafflicted, Homoeopathy can offer an effective treatment.  Baryta Carb\n(in addition to the other known remedies) has been found significantly\neffective in the paralysis of the limbs following typhoid and polio.\nThe effect is more evident in polio than in typhoid.  Baryta Carb may\nnot offer cure, but the patient defi nitely feels much improved.  The\nwasted legs start gaining mass and strength.  The stiff paralysed hands\nstart reverting towards normal use.  However, every patient does not\nfind that kind of improvement.\n\nThe children of the nature of Baryta  Carb tend to be very shy.  At\nschool, they are typical backbenchers .  They hide themselves on the\nsight of strangers.  When associat ed with some physical weakness,\nsuch children should be treated with  Baryta Carb.  Baryta Carb and\nCalcaria Carb are both fa mous for the treatment of weak-legged\nchildren.  The main difference is that in Calcaria Carb, the legs are\nnot only weak but they also look weak due to the underdevelopment\nof the bones.  The belly of such ch ildren bulges forward and the head\nis prominently big.  In Baryta Carb, the legs of the child may\napparently look normal but are weak.  Their walking is delayed.  The\nweakness of the legs and delayed walking is also found in Borax and\n\nNatrum Mur.  In Natrum Mur, there is delay in both learning to walk\nand to talk.  In case there is only a delay in learning to talk but not in\nwalking, Kali Phos would be very  useful.  In my experience\ncombination of Kali Phos 6X and Na trum Mur is the best remedy for\nthe delayed onset of walking and talking in children.\n\nBaryta Carb is very useful in the treatment of delayed onset of\npuberty in some girls.  Baryta Carb mainly works on the glands,\nespecially on the lymph glands in the upper part of the neck, which\nget chronically inflamed.  With every episode of an illness, their\nswelling increases.  Similarly, fatty lumps  (lipomas) form on the\nbody particularly at the back.  (M ultiple small nodules may also be\nfound in conditions other than Baryta Carb).  In Baryta Carb, once the\nglands become enlarged, they do not decrease in size nor does the\npotbelly become small, even if the re st of the body is visibly wasted.\nIn such a situation, Baryta Carb can safely be used repeatedly, in high\npotency.\n\nBaryta Carb lowers the systolic blood pressure,  though it does not\naffect the diastolic blood pressu re.  During the prolonged use of\nBaryta Carb, one should regularly ch eck the blood pressure to ensure\nthat the systolic blood pressure has not fallen too much.  If so, Baryta\nCarb should be temporarily stopped and then restarted as necessary.\n\nBaryta Carb is very important in the treatment of Cerebral\nArteriosclerosis i.e. the thickening and na rrowing of the arteries of\nthe brain.  Continued use of Cratae gus by the patient also proves very\nbeneficial. Remember that Arteri osclerosis is a very slowly\nprogressive disease and so its tr eatment would also be slowly\neffective.  Baryta Carb will have to be administered at least for a year\nor two to show its good effects.  T hus, for most old folks, it is their\nbest friend.  In fact, Baryta Carb is mostly used in the two extreme\nages i.e. the childhood and old age.\n\nMany a time, diseases come and go but they may leave bad effects.\nBaryta Carb is very useful in alle viating these aftereffects.  According\nto Dr. Kent, Baryta Carb is also very useful in malaria.  I have no\nexperience of that, though I have found it effective in treating the\naftereffects of malaria.\n\nDr. Kent has written in his book that Baryta Carb is effective in fatty\nlumps, tumours and enla rged glands, Lupus and tuberculous\nabscesses.  I personally have no such expe rience.  I have used Baryta\nCarb in patients who had ugly bumps and lumps on their body to no\navail, maybe their lumps were not of fatty nature.  Baryta Carb does,\nhowever, specifically cure the tumour s of fatty origin.  I have also\nfound Baryta Carb ineffective in the treatment of Lupus.  Dr. Kent is\nof the opinion that when indicated, B a r y t a  C a r b  m u s t  b e  u s e d  i n  a l l\npotencies.  Some deep-seated il lnesses do not respond to low\npotencies.  Therefore, Baryta Carb must be used in increasing\npotencies of 1000, 10,000, 50,000 and CM with suitable intervals.\nWhen Baryta Carb is found effective at the outset of the illness, it may\nwell cure the condition for good.\n\nThe Baryta Carb patient has a cons tant fear of unknown dangers.  On\nthat basis, Baryta Carb is specifically helpful in alleviating certain\nkinds of hallucinations and delusions.  Some patients feel as if their\nbrain is also vibrating along with the movement of their head.  This is\na typical symptom of Baryta Carb.  Epilepsy resulting from temporary\nblockage of circulation to the brai n, as happens in Meningitis, can be\ncured by prolonged, regular use of Baryta Carb.\n\nIn case of bleeding, which is red in colour (from ruptured arteries),\nBaryta Carb may be used besides Phosphorus.\n\nIn certain eye ailments particular to Baryta Carb, the eyelids become\nswollen and stay swollen due to the retention of their internal\nsecretions.  The same kind of obstinate swelling also affects the lymph\nglands of the upper part of the neck i.e. they do not diminish in size.\n\nBaryta Carb is also a treatment for falling hair, as well as the the\ndryness and baldness of the scalp.  Dryness of the skin and eczema is\nalso found in other drugs.  In Bary ta Carb, the weakness of the hair\nmay possibly be due to the accumulation of waste materials in the hair\nfollicles (causing weakness of the hair).  Baryta Carb is also useful in\ncorrecting failing eyesight.  The long-term, regular use of Baryta Carb\nis not only safe but in fact may improve the eyesight of advancing age.\nSometimes, the eyesight becomes weak due to high cholesterol in the\nblood (causing arteriosclerosis of the artery to the eye).  Combined use\nof Cholestrinum 30, Phytolacca 30 and Phosphorus 30 will benefit this\ncondition.  Phosphorus 30, however, s hould not be used continuously\n\nover a long period for fear of increasing the thickness of the blood and\nits coagulability.\n\nBaryta Carb is also useful in corneal conditions , as well as the\nformation of sties. Baryta Carb is very useful in the treatment of\nswollen neck glands and possibly in mumps.\n\nThe paralysis of the tongue in old age  is deeply related to Baryta\nCarb. Baryta Carb must be used in  older patients who are unable to\nbring out their sputum, once other me dicines have proven ineffective.\nSimilarly, Senega and Ammonium Ca rb are also very useful in\nchronic lung problems of the aged.\n\nBaryta Carb is also linked to earache.  When the earache becomes\nchronic and the ears feel full and he avy, even if there is no associated\nnasal discharge, Baryta Carb will be  very beneficial in relieving the\ncongestion of the ears and the earache.\n\nIn Baryta Carb, the stools are like hard balls sticking together.  As in\nNux Vomica, the person does not feel fully relieved after passing\nstools.  There is also aching of the abdomen.\n\nBaryta Carb is also useful in treating sexual weakness in men as well\nas women .  The potency should be gra dually increased, since very\nhigh potency of Baryta Carb at the outset may in fact increase sexual\nweakness.  Along with sexual wea kness, the women may also be\ninfertile.  Their ovaries shrink in size (i nstead of getting bigger).  In\nsuch a condition, Baryta Carb must be administered promptly to avert\npossible transformation into cancer.\n\nIn Baryta Carb, the paralysis of throat and legs  is a very prominent\nfeature.  When the paralysis a ffects only one side  of the body, the\nmain remedies would be Sulphur, Causticum, Rhus Tox, Gelsemium,\nLachesis or Cadmium Sulph as in dicated by the symptoms. Baryta\nCarb is extremely useful in paralysis of the lower half of the body .\nBesides this, Cocculus is also very effective for the treatment of the\nparalysis of the lower part of the body, but in high potency.\n\nA typically strange characteristic of the Baryta Carb cough is that\nwhen the patient lies prone on the stomach, the cough is suppressed.\nAny change of side and posture will provoke coughing.  In Baryta\n\nCarb, abundant warts form on the body.  The feet are smelly  and\nmalodorous.  Severe low-back pain may be the precursor of\nimpending paralysis of the lower half of the body.  Baryta Carb may\nprevent this.\n\nI know of a child whose legs were badly afflicted by polio and were\nbadly bent.  He was give n Sulphur and Baryta Carb, which resulted in\nsignificant improvement.  He wa lks around and leads a pretty\nindependent life, though not complete ly cured.  The doctors had told\nhim that his weakness of the legs would worsen with age.  Thus\nhomoeopathic remedies may look si mple and insignificant but show\nfar-reaching profound affects, when used properly.\n\nAdjuvants: Dulcamara, Silicea, Psorinum\nAntidotes: Camphor, Antimony Tart, Belladonna, Zincum\nPotency to be used: 30 to CM","modalities":"","symptoms_by_system":[],"schema_version":"1.0","api_provider":"Allahshafi"}
