{"id":13576,"remedy_name":"Baptisia (HMT)","remedy_type":"Remedy","alternative_names":[""],"miasm":"Syphilitic Miasm","temperament":"Neutral","aggravation_time":"Neutral\/Anytime","keynote_indications":"Baptisia is a well-known, tested remedy for day-to-day ailments.  It is\nrelated to decay and fetidness. For example, the diarrhoea of typhoid\nfever in which the stools smell awfully putrid  will best respond to\nBaptisia.  Typhoid diarrhoea is not that severe, but the stools are pasty\nand smell foul.\n\nBaptisia is very useful in the infectious conditions of the throat.  The\nthroat is commonly involved in infections which may not be painful as\nyet, however, the tonsils exhibit th e grievous state of infection.\nBaptisia is the most effective homoeopathic remedy for such a throat\ncondition with offensive odour, even if there is no associated pain.\n\nIn cases of uterine sepsis and infe ctions of other parts of the body\nassociated with putrefaction, Baptis ia is very useful, but the best\nremedy would still be Sulphur 200 and Pyrogenium 200 given\ntogether.  However, if the specific symptoms of Baptisia are manifest;\nBaptisia 30 may also be administered for added advantage.\n\nIn typhoid fever, if the signs and symptoms of Baptisia are present,\nadministration of Baptisia is a must.  The combined use of\nTyphoidinum 200 and Pyrogenium 200 will enhance its effectiveness.\nIn typhoid, the distension of the a bdomen is much more compared to\nthe degree of fever.  The entire body is being melted gradually, while\nthe belly becomes puffed up.  In this  condition, if Baptisia symptoms\nare also present, then the following regimen should be implied:\n1. Until the fever subsides completely i.e. no fever in the morning\nand evening, Typhodinum and Pyrogenium should be\nadministered three times a day and Baptisia 30 five to six times a\nday.\n2. After the fever has subsided, Pyrogenium and Typhoidinum\nshould be administered once a da y and Baptisia 30 three times a\nday, for at least one week.\n3. In the third week, Pyrogenium and Typhoidinum should be\nadministered twice a week and Baptisia 30 three times a day.\n\nIf the above regimen is continued for at least 21 days then there will\nbe no fear of recurrence of typhoi d and, by Allah\u2019s grace, no residual\nbad affects will remain.\n\nIn case there are no associated symptoms of Baptisia and the patient is\nrather constipated, Kali Phos a nd Ferrum Phos 6X should be used\nalong with Typhoidinum and Pyrogenium (instead of Baptisia).\n\nOne homoeopathic doctor has writte n in his book about a patient who\nwent blind due to typhoid and regain ed his eyesight during a fever he\ncontracted after taking some other medicine.  Such astounding events\ndo take place, although rarely.  Acco rding to allopathy, neurologists\nclaim that once dead the nerves cannot rejuvenate.  One thing is\ndefinitely certain that typhoid is a very danger ous disease.  Its ill\neffects on the brain can result in insanity for the rest of ones life.  Such\nan afflicted patient exhibits signs  of Stramonium and Hyoscyamus\n(both these remedies are also useful in typhoid).  They ameliorate the\nsymptoms but do not provide a cure.\n\nBaptisia is also useful in dental diseases  especially when the gums\nare inflamed, produce stinking pus and recede from the teeth.\n\nOne typical sign of Baptisia is that  the patient is drowsy or semi-\nconscious.  He feels as if his limb s are not connected together.  His\npersonality is also similarly di vided. The organs of his body are\nlethargic.  Even on being awakened , he is drowsy, trying to concert\nhis efforts.  He sometimes talks to his limbs.  At times, he feels as if\none of his legs is actually talking to the other.  He has to be aroused to\nanswer a question, yet he will fall asleep while still trying to find an\nanswer.  Baptisia is the best re medy in such a state of mental\nconfusion, provided the other symptoms of Baptisia are also present.\n\nIn Baptisia, the stools are clay -coloured, yellowish or sometimes\ngreyish and are pasty in nature.  At times there are beads of cold sweat\non the forehead showing that the body strength is dwindling.  In this\ncondition, the tongue becomes dry a nd stiff, ulcers form around the\nteeth which stink.  Even in this grave condition, if given promptly,\nBaptisia may restore life.\n\nIn Baptisia ulcers in the mouth can become gangrenous\n(Cancrumoris).  They are not painful though there is an extremely bad\ntaste in the mouth.  The tissues around the ulcers become numb and\ndemarcated or separated.  At this stage, the Homoeopathic remedy\n\ncannot reach the affected tissues.  So  it is important that the condition\nbe diagnosed in good time in order to avert this grave situation.\n\nIn Baptisia, involvement of the throat permits the swallowing of the\nliquids but causes great difficulty in swallowing solid food .  If the\npatient forces himself to swa llow the solid food, he may choke\nhimself.\n\nIn Baptisia, some ailments manifest weakness due to paralysis.  On\nthe same basis the intestinal paralysis causes distension of the\nabdomen.  In Homoeopathy, it is vita l to know the basic nature of the\nremedy.  A characteristic feature is that the afflicted part of the body is\nonly partially paralysed and there is decreased sensitivity of that part\nto the pain.  By remembering this particular feature, Baptisia will\nhopefully be put to use in a timely fashion.\n\nAdjuvants: Bryonia, Arsenic, Arnica, Pyrogenium,\nSulphur, Typhoidinum\nPotency: 30 to 200","modalities":"","symptoms_by_system":[],"schema_version":"1.0","api_provider":"Allahshafi"}
