Its illnesses are secondary to mental strains and stresses.\nRepeated mental trauma leads to physical illnesses. The main\ncharacteristic of Aurum Metallicum is that the patient loses self-\nconfidence.  He constantly scolds himself and considers himself to be\na totally useless person and a burden on society.  He becomes suicidal\nand in fact attempts to commit suicide.\n\nThe Aurum Metallicum patient is apparently calm, quiet, depressed\nand withdrawn, but when provoked, may rather jump to kill somebody\nelse (against his usual suicidal tendency). The constant self-denial,\nindifference to others and others mistreating him, all make him\nintroverted.  He may suddenly e xplode violently, often to harm\nhimself.  If bothered too much, he may prove extremely dangerous\nand avenge his anger on others.  One should better avoid bothering the\nAurum Metallicum patient or indulging him in argument.  In the\nAurum Metallicum patient, the madness is born out of prolonged\nemotional suppression. When the patie nt\u2019s self-prestige is very low,\nhopelessness prevails around him and he considers himself to be a\ntotal failure.  His mental anguish and emotional torment can drive him\nmad permanently.  In the early st age, however, he can think and\ncomprehend clearly.\n\nIn Aurum Metallicum, the main physical effect of the disease is on the\nliver and then on the heart also.  The heart muscle becomes weak and\nthe liver fails.  The heart and lung ailments go hand in hand.  There is\ninflammation of the inner lining of the heart, causing chest pain.  The\nheart dilates leading to accumulation of water in the lungs.\n\nAches and pains like rheumatism are common.  The joints are\ninflamed.  The membranous covering  of the bones are badly affected,\nresulting in the bones becoming weak and carious.  The inner\nlacework of the bones trabeculae b ecome rigid, though structurally\nweak (as in a Argentum Nitricum).  There is a feeling of stabbing pain\nin the bones.  The joints become stiff and difficult to move, like in a\nfrozen shoulder.  Many a time, the shoulder becomes stiff as a result\nof injury.  Aurum Metallicum is  the best remedy, provided the\nstiffness of the shoulder is due to rheumatism.\n\nIn Aurum Metallicum, the veins become dilated  and the blood starts\nclotting within them.  The arteries pulsate and feel warm.  There are\nmicroscopic bleedings into the joints, causing them to hurt.  Due to the\nailments of the heart and the liver, there is swelling in some parts of\nthe body and the glands all over th e body enlarge.  Swelling of the\nlegs and ankles is very common in women. Their leg veins have\nremained congested because they have to carry heavy weight during\npregnancy.  In addition to Aurum Metallicum, other remedies can also\nwork in such a condition, provided th eir particular symptoms are also\npresent.\n\nIn Aurum Metallicum, there is severe headache and there is feeling of\nair rustling over the head.  The face is swollen and shines due to the\nskin being taut and tense.\n\nThe hair on the scalp tends to fall  leading to baldness (Acid Phos is\nalso very useful in falling hair).  If a specific remedy is not known,\nthen the general formula of Alopecia may be used, such as Bacilinium\n200 + Natrum Mur 30 + Teucrium Marum 30 and Picric Acid 30, to\nsignificant effect.  Alopecia is a form of localized baldness. I have\nfound the above formula quite eff ective in general baldness also,\nespecially when the face shows signs of ringworm infestation.  If other\nconstitutional symptoms are also present (in addition to baldness),\nthen Graphites and Phosphorus may also  be very effective.  In case of\nsyphilis baldness, the combination of Natrum Mur 200 and Bacilinium\n200 has also been found to be e ffective. In the books, Aurum\nMetallicum has also been quoted to be effective in baldness,\nsecondary to suppressed syphilis. To augment the useful affect of\nAurum Metallicum, one should administer Syphlinum  CM and repeat\nit after two months before resor ting to Aurum Metallicum and follow\nwith Natrum Mur and Bacilinium.\n\nIn Aurum Metallicum, the eyes are extremely sensitive to light .\nStrong light of gas lamps is very tr oublesome.  Flashing light perturbs\nthe patient.  The moonlight, however , is soothing to the eye, though\nthis is not the leading feature of Aurum Metallicum.\n\nThe patient eludes the stars as falling downwards , while in\nCalcaria the illusion is upwards. This  sign is typical of Aurum\nMetallicum.\n\nSometimes, the eyes swell and protrude out.  In allopathic medicine,\nthe only treatment for this condition is surgery.  Swollen protruding\neyes may be due to di seases of the glands  or some other chronic\ndebilitating illness in which tube rculous matter is found.  Aurum\nMetallicum has been found very usef ul in combating this condition\nirrespective of its cause.  I have also found Natrum Mur and\nBacilinium useful in this condition.  If the pressure inside the eye is\nelevated, Belladonna and Arnica must also be used.  The important\npoint again is to keep in view the natural aptitude of the patient and\nfind the appropriate match from the homoeopathic armamentarium.  If\nthe symptoms are mixed up, the above combination may be employed.\nAt least, I have found it very beneficial.\n\nAurum Metallicum is very useful against the deep wounds of the\nears, in which the bony structure of the ear becomes rotten, resulting\nin discharge of extremely putrid material.\n\nThe nasal cold of Aurum Metallicum patient is of chronic type.  The\ncause is not the inflammation of the mucosal lining, but the\ninvolvement of the cartilaginous bones of the nose.  The nasal catarrh\nof Natrum Mur is related to the in flammation of the lining of the nose\nand not the bones.  Administration of  Natrum Mur first aggravates the\nsymptoms resulting in copious s ecretions, and then makes them\ndisappear.\n\nIn homoeopathic literature, Aurum ha s been mentioned in relation to\nthe treatment of suppressed syphilis.  Recent studies of AIDS patients\nin America have shown that severely  sick patients of AIDS exhibited\nsymptoms of syphilis also.  This is  attributed to have been acquired\nfrom their ancestors who had syphilis, were treated and apparently\nwere cured.\n\nOne characteristic sign of Aurum Metallicum is the formation of\nspider webs on the nose and the tendency of the blood to clot in these\nlittle veins like varicose veins.  The lips also look bluish.\n\nIn the Aurum patient, the liver beco mes stone hard and nodules form.\nAurum Metallicum is also useful in Inguinal Hernia, an inflamed\nhardened uterus associated with widely spaced, scanty menses.  In\nNatrum Mur also, similar symptoms develop, with the difference that\n\nthere is a lot of pain in the back and the condition is mostly prominent\nin unmarried girls.  One dose of Natrum Mur may often provide cure.\nIn Aurum Metallicum, the associated ache is of a floating nature.\n\nMost of the symptoms of Aurum resemble those of Argentum\nMetallicum. But there are certain differences. For example, in\nArgentum, the symptoms are reli eved through rest and slow\nmovement.  In Aurum, the symptoms worsen on walking fast\nespecially, which also raises th e blood pressure and causes tightness\nof the chest and suffocation. In Argentum, the situation is just the\nopposite.\n\nAdjuncts: Aurum Mur, Asafoetida, Kali Iodide, Phosphorus\nAntidotes: Belladonna, Cuprum, China\nPotency: 30 to 1000.","modalities":"","symptoms_by_system":[],"schema_version":"1.0","api_provider":"Allahshafi"}
