## Keynote Indications
Antipyrine is known from the poisonous effects it produced in old -school practice. Many
fatal cases were recorded and there can be little doubt that its injudicious use determined a fatal issue in many
cases that have remained unrecorded.
Antipyrines action is very like that of Acetan, in producing collapse, but it has more effect on the skin, causing
scarlpt rash and edema. It is one of the drugs that induce leucocytosis, similar to ergotine, salicylates and
tuberculin.
Antipyrine acts especially on the vasomo tor centers, causing dilation of the capillaries of the skin and

circumscribed patches of hyperemia a nd swelling. In large doses, it causes profuse perspiration, dizziness,
cyanosis, somnolence, albumen and blood in urine. Acute erythema multiform.
