The hands\nare tremulous, the limbs display jerky movements and the whole body\nquivers.\n\nJerky movements  are also a characteri stic of Actea Racemosa\n(Cimicifuga), with the difference th at the violent movements are on\nthe same side as one lies on, while in Agaricus, the whole body\nquivers.  Tremors and spasms  both exist.  The eyes also shake and\nsway.  The eyesight is not focusse d.  I once happened to see a young\nman suffering from this ailment which was progressing with age.\nAgaricus Muscarius significantly benefited him to the extent that he\ncould do his regular work normally.\n\nIn Agaricus, eye symptoms  are very prominent, such as double\nvision, black spots dancing before the eyes, squinting, burning and\nirritation of the eyes  and a feeling of fatigue.  It is difficult to focus\nthe eye on one particul ar point.  Reading becomes difficult, the\neyeballs swing like a pendulum, a nd the discharge of the eye is\nyellowish and sticky.  The mind beco mes weak.  Concentrated studies\nand mental work cause fatigue.  Su ch children are very stubborn in\nnature, irritable and sensitive.  If checked harshly , they may go into\nmental shock and become unconscious (more so in the case of\nAesculus). Agaricus should be give n to children even if rolling\nmovements of the eyeballs are abse nt.  Some children are basically\nmentally weak, more so in the morning.  They cannot understand any\nnew idea.  They are sluggish, physica lly as well as mentally.  As the\nday passes, they become mentally alert, normal and cheerful by the\nend of the day.  These symptoms are very similar in Agaricus and\nAesculus, except for their timing.\n\nIn Agaricus, weakness of nerves can induce deafness.  Exposure to\ncold causes earache, with redness and burning of  the skin.  The feet\nburn, itch and become red.  Sometimes in extreme cold, if one enters a\nheated room, hands and feet start to  itch and become red and swollen.\nThis condition is called Chillblain.  Any condition in which the blood\n\naccumulates in one particular part  of the body causing distension,\nredness, itching and pain, will be relieved  by Agaricus Muscarius.\nSimilar conditions can be found in some allergies (for example,\nduring the treatment of malaria). If  associated with other symptoms\nand signs of Agaricus, Agaricus Mus carius will cure these without the\nhelp of any other anti-allergic treatment.  One or at the most two doses\nwill suffice (by the grace of Allah) .  Sometimes, Phosphorus may also\nbe helpful in such a situation.  Some children happen to stammer.\nStammering is in fact due to some kind of fear.  It should be treated\npsychologically also.  In general, St ramonium is very useful in deep\nmental and neurological conditi ons, but has not been found\nsufficiently effective in the treatment of stammers.  So one must\ncarefully scrutinize the cause of the illness before suggesting any\nremedy.  Agaricus may be one possible remedy for stammering.\n\nIn Agaricus Muscarius, the illness has fleeting tendency.  Sometimes\nwomen, during their nursing perio d, may have been subjected to\nmental shock (due to some severe a ccident, grief or mental pressure),\ncausing the milk production (lactation) to be suppressed .  If the\nmilk is insufficient due to the me ntal shock, Agaricus can be very\nuseful.  Pulsatilla will be the right medication for Pulsatilla type\npatient.  Other remedies used for normalizing lactation are:\n\nAgnus Castus\nBryonia\nCausticum\nLac Defloratum\nPhytolacca\nSilicea\nAconite\nAsafoetida\nCalcarea Carbonica\nChamomilla\nPhosphoric Acid\nSecale\nUrtica\n\nIn Agaricus, like Aesculus, the pa ins tend to radiate downwards.\nBeing related to the nerves, the pains are not dull and localised;\ninstead, they may radiate to one side and then to the other.  In such a\ncase, Agaricus is more effective\n\nIn Agaricus Muscarius, the abdomen is full of wind  (or gas) due to\nsluggish intestinal movements.  In  such cases, Nux Vomica is also\nvery promptly effective.  It restores  the intestinal mobility in transient\nas well as established condition.  Sulphur works for prolonged periods\nand Aconite works temporarily.  Nux Vomica is between the two.\n\nThe Agaricus patient is usually ve ry quiet.  Typically the facial\nmuscles twitch.  The intestinal mu scles also fasciculate, but do not\nhave the propulsive power.  In such a case, Agaricus is the remedy.\n\nIn Agaricus Muscarius, one experiences hallucinations as a result of\nblood poisoning due to the toxins produ ced inside the uterus.  If the\nuterus does not expel the placental membranes after the childbirth, it\ncan affect the mind.  In this cond ition, Pulsatilla is a good general\nremedy for the natural cleaning of the uterus.  If the infection sets in\nthe uterus and Puerperel fever de velops, Sulphur 200 and Pyrogenium\n200 should be given.  If there are hallucinations and milk formation in\nthe breast is decreased, Agaric us Muscarius will be very\nadvantageous.  In the case of infection, Silicia, Kali Mur, Ferrum Phos\nand Kali Phos, all six 6X, should be  mixed and given in addition to\nSulphur and Pyrogenium.\n\nIn Agaricus, we see eczema also.  It is recognised by the blisters\ncontaining yellow exudate, which develop along the course of the\nnerves.  It is often seen that th e neurological conditions can transform\ninto eczema.  In some other cond itions, vesicles develop along the\ncourse of the peripheral nerves, such as in herpes.  But Agaricus is not\nthe remedy for herpes.\n\nHerpes of different kinds is a very pa inful disease.  It should be\nclearly recognised and treated  timely to avoid dangerous\ncomplications.  Previously, I used to prescribe Silicia, Kali Phos and\nKali Mur for herpes which helped to some extent.  Later on, I found\nthat the best treatment for herpes was that as for snakebite, i.e. Arnica\n200, Ledum 200 and Arsenic 200.  This combination offered\nunusually quick cure (when I used this formula on late Aftab Ahmad\nKhan Sahib during a severe attack of herpes ).  Due to the frequent\nmutation of the herpes virus and ch anging pattern of the disease, in\nmy knowledge there is no one standard remedy which would be of use\nall the time.\n\nThe Agaricus patient does not ha ve full control on his limbs.  Things\ndrop out of his hands .  Crockery frequently falls and breaks.  His\ngrip is not strong enough.  Severe muscle pains and spasms occur in\nthe limbs.  Hands and feet twist violently.\n\nIn Agaricus, the symptoms aggravate after taking food, in the open\nand in cold weather.  Sleep fail s to improve the symptoms.  The\npatient feels drowsy all day.
